Jim
Hoehn
Jim is a Milwaukee-based author, journalist and songwriter.
It seems fitting to plagiarize from his website:
A midlife crisis turned Hoehn's writing attention toward music,
where he has carved out a surprisingly successful niche as a performing
songwriter despite a musical philosophy of "Six strings,
five fingers, three chords, no problem."
As a songwriter he has performed at numerous festivals and events
around the country and has opened for a wide variety of national
artists, including the likes of Warren Zevon, Jerry Jeff Walker,
Junior Brown, Robert Earl Keen, Don McLean, the Nitty Gritty Dirt
Band and a memorable evening with songwriter-turned-mystery novelist
Kinky Friedman. Through a combination of shameless self-promotion
and clerical errors, Hoehn also has appeared on a number of radio
and TV shows, including The Mitch Albom Show on MSNBC.
Jim's new album, Royalty Check Hotel just dropped, joining
three other offerings: "Deadline Penitentiary", "Playa
del Pressbox" (which includes such songs as "Bimbette
du Jour") and "Live at RACAfest". He also is the
producer of three extremely successful trop rock compilations,
"Thongs In The Key Of Life"; "Thongs In The Key
Of Life, Vol. II" and the cleverly named "Thongs In
The Key Of Life, Vol. 3".
Jim is also the host the semi-regular radio show "The Three-Chord
Barbecue" on Radio
JimmyDreamz, which originally aired for two years on Radio
Margaritaville.

Ramajay
Intercoastal
Tall Paul, who performed aboard Parrothead
Cruise 2009, met Quincy Yates during the formation of one
of Trop Rock's seminal bands, St.
Somewhere. Paul's guitar-based folk rock and Quincy's Trinidadian-infused
steel pan music differ but complement each other, and they have
shared a stage many times over the years. Finally, Paul and Quincy
decided to formally blend the two, added bass and precussion (Klee
and Mark) and have created a new band: Ramajay Intercoastal. Ramajay
is a steel pan word referring to improvising with exceptional
verve and ability, and the blending of musical styles. That sounds
like the perfect description of what they've created.
In their own words:
After being introduced to each other during the creation
of the band St. Somewhere, Paul and Quincy developed a musical
and personal friendship that bore fruit with songs like “Driftin’”
and “Deep in my Heart”. With both musicians eager
for something new and exciting they have developed Ramajay Intercoastal,
a blending of two unlikely but similar worlds. Their Island/Rock
approach contains infectious grooves and catchy melodies balanced
by intriguing lyrics.

Nadirah Shakoor with Outside
Art
Nadirah is the first active Coral Reefer to perform on the Parrothead
Cruise. She will be accompanied by her band, Outside Art, which
will allow her to perform not only the Buffett tunes we love,
and her selections from Nod
to the Storyteller, but all of the varied musical styles she
performs. This includes world music, ballads, house-music and
more. Nadirah is a truly extrodinary talent.
From Wikipedia:
Nadirah Shakoor is an American vocalist, best known for her
work in Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, which she joined in
1995, and is still touring with them as the featured female vocalist.
"Nod To The Storyteller" is Nadirah's tribute to Jimmy
Buffett, who for the last 13 years has featured her as part of
his show. Prior to that she was the female lead singer of the
hip-hop group Arrested Development, of which she was a member
from 1993 until 1995. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for
their second album "Zingalamaduni". Nadirah is also
featured in Arrested Development's Unplugged DVD and CD. She has
also toured and/or recorded with Madonna, Al Jarreau, Paula Abdul,
Quincy Jones, Jasmine Guy, Howard Hewit and others.
Her debut CD "Soul Power" (Toshiba/EMI Japan) was produced
by Speech, and her next two projects, "NadirahSongs"
and "Obsessed With Peace Vol. I" were released independently.
In 2000 she teamed up with her best friend, world-renowned producer
Osunlade. Together, they have released several house-music songs
on Osunlade’s Yoruba Records label that are quickly becoming
classics of the genre.
My band and I are so excited about joining
the 2010 Parrothead Cruise! This will be my very first cruise
and since I was born to live on an Island (still working on that
one) I especially love that we will be Caribbean bound. I have
lived in Atlanta since 1993 and as a proud member of the Atlanta
Parrot Head Club I am honored to work with Brent and all the members
who work so hard to provide entertaining and all out fun events
while contributing generously to charitable causes. Outside Art
and I are determined to make some bodies move and some hearts
smile. Yeah Mon, we'll be Jammin til da break of dawn!

Performing
at the Parrothead Cruise Bon Voyage Party
DJ Albert
and
John Friday and Dave Lapio
"The Caribbean Connection"
DJ Albert
DJ Albert Hinojosa of the Sarasota Bay PHC returns
to the Parrothead Cruise Bon Voyage party. Albert will be spinning
great tropical tunes and keep the party jumping. We may even convince
him to play a little percussion too!
John Friday and Dave Lapio
John Friday, the Tropical Balladeer, is a singer/songwriter originally
from Maryland now living in Florida. After a (literally) back-breaking
Army career
John settled in the Sunshine State where he brings audiences a
taste of the tropics and shows them that laid-back is the only
way to be. John is fresh off his Top-Five finish in the Landshark
Lager Battle of the Bands, placing ahead of literally hundreds
of competing entertainers!
Joining John is steel pan artist Dave Lapio. Dave abandoned his
profession as a chemist to follow his true calling as a musican
and master of the steel pan. Dave has performed along with everyone
who is anyone in the world of steel pan music, including perfroming
with Coral Reefer Robert Greenidge and participating in the Panorama
competitions in Trinidad and Tobago for the last 15 years. Dave
has released several CDs of music through his Pandave Music label.
